To become a True Buddha School student, you would need to take refuge in Grand Master Sheng-yen Lu.  By receiving the initiation empowerment, you would have registered to learn and practice Buddhism from your Root Guru –  Grand Master Lu.  In addition, you would receive blessings from the Root Guru, who is considered in Tantric Buddhism as Buddha, as the manifestation of the Triple Jewels of Buddha, Dharma, Sangha.
